Our presenter is Daniel Madigan, SJ, an Australian Jesuit and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Theology at Georgetown University.  Fr. Madigan will explore what Muslims and Christians have in common, as well as what distinguishes us from each other, always in the context of the esteem that Vatican II expresses for Muslims and their religious practice.

The Roots of Christian Mysticism

A series of classes exploring in depth the history and teachings of Christian mysticism. Classes are open to anyone of any spiritual tradition who wishes to understand the contemplative tradition.

2014 begins with Julian of Norwich and the English Mystics, taught by Fr. Charles Talar, PhD from the the University of St. Thomas on January 11.  Fr. Giuiseppe Barbieri, CP will present “The Cloud of Unknowing” on February 8, followed by St. Ignatius of Loyola presented by Fr. Ian Gibbons S.J. on March 8.
The semester will conclude with St. Theresa of Avila on April 12 presented by Brooke Williams Deely, PhD, then St. John of the Cross on May 3. You need not have participated in the first year to enjoy/benefit from the remainder of the series. Anyone of any spiritual tradition (or none) who wishes to explore Christian Mysticism in depth is welcome to take this course.
Tuition is $25 per class payable at the door.
